A Case for Walking Around

I do a lot of research on each city before picking our apartment to make sure we’re in the best location. However, I didn’t realize just how amazing our location in Barcelona would be. In the Gothic Quarter, only a 5-10 minute walk to La Rambla, 5 minutes to the El Born neighborhood, or 5 the other way to the marina. Wandering around just a few blocks and there is plenty to see. After a very short time here we’re realizing that every glance is worthy of a picture and every street is worthy of walking down. In just our “hood”, we came across beautiful churches, quaint sidewalk scenes, and grand plazas. We love how Barcelona maintains its original charm as it expands its infrastructure. This post is really just a short photographic love letter to our Barcelona stomping grounds.

The Cathedral of Barcelona
Interior of the Cathedral of Barcelona
The “Giants” (wearable puppets that parade the streets during Catholic celebrations) at the Church of Santa Maria Del Pi
Statue depicting several biblical characters, the bodies carved but the clothing is actual linen cloth. Another unique feature of the Church of Santa Maria del Pi.
Placa Reial
Statue of Ramon Berenguer III on his favorite horse. Behind is the old palace wall. Located on Via Laietana
a small square with outdoor cafe seating and several shops
“Barcino” sculpture. Barcino was the Roman name for Barcelona.
The view looking down from our sweet little balcony in the apartment. Carrer d’en Gignas.
